I've never been what you would call "over weight." I'm 5' 1" (almost :)) and am very petite.
Most people when they see me assume that I don't weigh very much either, which is true if you look at others who weigh more than me. But compared to other women in my age group who are my same height, I have always weighed more than them. A 5' 1" 22-year-old women should have a BMI (body mass index) somewhere between 18.5 and 24.9. My BMI is 24. I'm considered healthy...barely.
Because people have always thought I weighed less than I do I have always come to think that I should weigh less. I have never been satisfied with my weight and the way I live my life. If you were to ask me to run a simple mile I can promise you that I wouldn't be able to run the whole thing without stopping. That is pitiful.
I should be able to run and not be weary like the D&C says. I shouldn't have to sleep 10 hours before I feel wrested. I should be able to find time every day to do some sort of physical activity, even if it is simply taking a walk with my family after dinner.
I started this blog so that I would no longer have an excuse not to exercise. And its not only being active, but also improving my diet. Eating more veges and whole grains and less chocolate! Not give it up all together mind you, but to limit myself.
This blog will help me track my progress and keep me on track. Now that the rest of the world knows that I have started to improve my life I can't stop now!

Way to go Allie! I hear ya about weight loss. This last pregnancy has done my body in and I weigh more now than I did in December when I was 4 1/2 months pregnant. I've got to eat less chocolate too! Maybe you can inspire me :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a good idea Al, I think having accountability for what you put into your body makes a person more aware of their health. I was wondering if you wanted to start a meal planning group where everyone who wanted to participate would submit a weeks worth of meals that are healthy and yummy. Let me know if you're interested and we can talk details.
